Arriving to a soggy, but warm site in the middle of August, 16,000 hardy music fans and artists continued to assemble their canvas homes for the weekend. Many then proceeded to a packed Big Top Stage for the awesome opening performance by the Levellers in “Acoustic” mode. A pretty vague term these days…
An evening completed by Gentleman’s Dub Club and Leftfield on the Main Stage, Seth Lakeman and Billy Bragg on the Big Top was celebrated long into the night at the various club stages and the fantastic Bimble Inn. This would set the format for the following evenings!
Saturday was the day for Skata Tones and at exactly 3:35 pm, the lights went up and the Ska went down at the Little Big Top Stage, to an absolutely packed and lively audience! Jumping and singing along, we were really boosted by such a fantastic crowd. We love you, and we loved every minute of it.
After that exhilarating performance, everything else was just a special treat. Great performances from Dreadzone (support gigs coming up for us), Reef, James, Mad Dog Mcrea, Show of Hands, The Selecter followed over the next 36 hours until the Levellers took to the stage to close out the show in style. Fireworks and all!
